Channel Capacity Bounds in the Presence of Quantized Channel State Information

چکیده
The goal of this paper is to investigate the effect of channel side information on increasing the achievable rates of continuous power-limited non-Gaussian channels. We focus on the case where (1) there is imperfect channel quality information available to the transmitter and the receiver and (2) while the channel gain is continuously varying, there are few cross-region changes, and the noise characteristics remain in each detection region for a long time. The results are presented for two scenarios, namely, reliable and unreliable region detection. Considering shortand long-term power constraints, the capacity bounds are found for log-normal and two different Nakagami-based channel distributions, and for both Max-Lloyd and equal probability quantization approaches. Then, the optimal gain partitioning approach, maximizing the achievable rates, is determined. Finally, general equations for the channel capacity bounds and optimal channel partitioning in the case of unreliable region detection are presented. Interestingly, the results show that, for high SNR’s, it is possible to determine a power-independent optimal gain partitioning approach maximizing the capacity lower bound which, in both scenarios, is identical for both shortand long-term power constraints.

Capacity Bounds and High-SNR Capacity of the Additive Exponential Noise Channel With Additive Exponential Interference
Communication in the presence of a priori known interference at the encoder has gained great interest because of its many practical applications. In this paper, additive exponential noise channel with additive exponential interference (AENC-AEI) known non-causally at the transmitter is introduced as a new variant of such communication scenarios. First, it is shown that the additive Gaussian ch...
متن کاملOn The Secrecy of the Cognitive Interference Channel with Channel State
In this paper the secrecy problem in the cognitive state-dependent interference channel is considered. In this scenario we have a primary and a cognitive transmitter-receiver pairs. The cognitive transmitter has the message of the primary sender as side information. In addition, the state of the channel is known at the cognitive encoder. Hence, the cognitive encoder uses this side information t...
متن کاملA More General Version of the Costa Theorem
In accordance with the Costa theorem, the interference which is independent of the channel input and known non-causally at the transmitter, does not affect the capacity of the Gaussian channel. In some applications, the known interference depends on the input and hence has some information. In this paper, we study the channel with input dependent interference and prove a capacity theorem that n...
متن کاملGaussian Z Channel with Intersymbol Interference
In this paper, we derive a capacity inner bound for a synchronous Gaussian Z channel with intersymbol interference (ISI) under input power constraints. This is done by converting the original channel model into an n-block memoryless circular Gaussian Z channel (n-CGZC) and successively decomposing the n-block memoryless channel into a series of independent parallel channels in the frequency dom...
متن کاملBounds on the Capacity of Miso Channels with Different Types of Imperfect Csi
Consider the downlink of an isolated cell with a base station (BS) equipped with M multiple antennas and a single user with a single antenna. For this multiple-input single-output (MISO) channel, the capacity with perfect channel state information (CSI) the transmitter and receiver is known. In practice, however, it is actually more realistic to assume imperfect CSI at the transmitter. For inst...
